Veterans Day Shootout Championship Recap

The Veterans Day Shootout, held in Cleveland from November 8-10, 2024, brought together youth hockey teams across divisions from 10U to 14U A/B for a weekend of competitive matchups. Here’s a recap of the championship games in each division.

10U A Championship Recap

The Jr. Phantoms (Patterson) (4-0-0) emerged as champions in the 10U A division with a close 4-3 victory over the Dayton Stealth (2-2-0). The Phantoms took an early lead with two first-period goals and held on despite a strong third-period effort from the Stealth. Their balanced scoring and defensive resilience secured the title.

10U B Championship Recap

The Renegades (5-0-0) claimed the 10U B division title with a 5-2 win over the Strongsville Mustangs-2 (3-2-0). After a tight first period, the Renegades took control in the second with three goals and added two more in the third. The Mustangs scored once in both the first and third periods, but the Renegades’ offense proved too much to overcome.

12U A Championship Recap

The Jr. Phantoms (Schlueter) (4-1-0) captured the 12U A championship by defeating the Strongsville Mustangs (4-1-0) with a final score of 5-3. The Mustangs led 2-0 after the first period, but the Phantoms fought back, tying the game in the second and securing the win with three third-period goals. Their relentless effort earned them the championship.

12U B Championship Recap

Ann Arbor Biggby (4-1-0) edged out Mon Valley Thunder (3-2-0) in an intense 3-2 overtime victory to claim the 12U B championship. Both teams were evenly matched, with the game tied after three periods. Biggby scored the decisive goal in overtime, securing the championship with a determined finish.

14U A Championship Recap

The Jr. Phantoms (Warrick) (5-0-0) took home the 14U A division title with a 4-2 victory over Sabre Hockey (4-1-0). After a scoreless first period, the Phantoms scored twice in the second and twice more in the third, holding off a strong effort from Sabre Hockey to secure the championship.
